Standard torpedoes are created of a scatter-packet of 3-5 plasma-injected explosive packets. Torpedoes consist of multiple stages. First is the LREA or Long Range Engine Array, a small grouping of sub-light engines designed for burst accuracy and sufficient forward propulsion to drive the torpedo forward. (There may be more then one of these stages, each contained with fuel, depending on the range of the Torpedo.) Once the torpedo has reached sufficient momentum the LREA is dropped off. Next are the ECCM (Electronic Counter-Counter Measure) packets. These small packets are released in a burst formation when separated from the body of the torpedo. Designed to defeat flack or counter broadcast against ECM (Electronic Counter-Measures).

There are usually 1-2 of these stages. Third is the TE, trigger explosive. This will blow to trigger the much more powerful Plasma Explosive Packets. Fourth is the PEP, Plasma Explosive Packets, a series of plasma-injection explosives built into a warhead. There are 3-5 packets in the warhead placed to create a shaped explosive. There are alternative shapes besides the standard globe explosive shape: Star, for use against large fleet ships, Arrow, for use against engine room and Expanding Cone, for use against heavy armor. The most forward stage is the APS, Armor Penetration System, used to penetrate into the ship before the explosion detonates. Torpedoes are the primary stand-off weapon. They are commonly used as opening weapons as well.
