Antarean Star Empire whose new emperor, Lucan Andromedeus IV, was showing signs of continuing the expansionist campaign begun by his father, Lucan III.
An alliance against this campaign consisted of five stellar nations who either shared a common border with the ASE or recognized the threat it posed. The signatories included the Democratic Union of Fellbar (DUF), Republic of Cinnabar (RC), Taurean Confederation (TC), Kingdom of Mournecreek (KC) and the Polaris Concordat (PC).
In the year 861 AE, during the first antarean war, the United Space Navy destroyed the Worldship Andromedeus. They thought that the entire Andromedeus clan had perished in the conflagration. However, Emperor Lucan Andromedeus III’s family and pregnant daughter were not onboard and had already been whisked away in secret along with a small number of the Custodia, the Empire’s special military unit tasked with protecting the Imperial family.
