The Baal class drone is the latest and most advanced addition to the automated fighting forces of the Imperial Navy. Capable of supporting both ground and space-borne assault, the Baal's classification as a Hunter-Killer is well deserved. Its tiny frame is packed with destructive power. Utilizing the latest in plasma-based weapon technology, the Baal's armament is based around a pair of ultra-light Cormorant-LPB plasLances. While it does not have the range of of traditional laser-based systems or the kinetic stopping power of conventional mass-drivers, the plasLance has excellent penetration against military grade armor, making it ideal for scouring enemy warships of vital component-systems in support of other Imperial vessels.
Against smaller opponents, Baals fair less favorably, but are still superior to the Qetesh in ship-to-ship combat. Baals are often used either as deep strikers ahead of the main fleet, or paired with LAC squadrons.
The Baal's greatest weakness to date is the relatively small number of units actively deployed. It is far more expensive to manufacture than even the Baath class PBP, and Imperial commanders are often wary to utilize them as they were intended, as solo units harassing an enemy advance or retreat. Coupled with the lack of parts available for the Baal's weapon systems, these deficiencies may ultimately render the drone ineffectual in combat.
