The apex of ship building, first in its class, the Ragnarok is the largest, most feared ship possible. Massive subbays, and more super class weapons than any other ship, this is the definition of a super dreadnought.
Flexing its muscles, the ULP wanted to intimidate the not yet recognized Second Antarean Empire to back down. A mission that failed miserably.
Earlier models of the Ragnarok class where not as absurdly large as the Mark III, but merely designed as cruisers. The later two models quickly jumped from huge to massive. Still called the Ragnarok, it shares no resemblance with earlier iterations. Originally the designs where called the Freya class cruiser (a name later reused for a different class), the first Mark I Ragnarok was still to be called the USNV Freya. Only later was the first Mark II actually called after the class, as is customary for the first ship of its class.
