Setting:

It is early in the war and a number of system and planetary governments are still clamoring for ships from the [2nd] Antarean Space Empire to come and liberate them from League rule. An attempt to answer all these calls would spread the Empire's forces too thin, so instead military commanders are picking which planets provide the most strategic value and liberating only those.


Kivium, a small system with a single habitable planet just inside the border of the second district, was not one of those assigned such a strategic importance. However, Ministry of Vox Dei Facilitators have received information that leads them to believe the Kivium may hold more value then the AISN knows.


Before the war broke out Cinnabarian ship designer Femeus Karber retreated to Kivium to work on the design for a new Corvette class ship for the League. The design is extremely valuable, an innovative Advanced Variable Geometry Support and Assault vehicle, created out of a number of interlocking moving parts, the likes of which has yet to truly be seen on the battlefield.


When the Empire declared itself, the League was unable to quietly extract Karber from the unfriendly planet. Though the Kivium president hesitated to order an outright attack on ULP forces in his system, he refused them entry to his atmosphere, calling on laws of self-determination from the League's charter. The League, unable to extract Karber without catching the eye (and weapons fire) of the expert Imperial Fourth Arm that patrolled the nearby area, decided to compromise and leave a token defensive force in the Kivium system. The ULP hoped that given time and space the Kivium Democratic Government would return to the fold.


Determined to gain the AVGSA model Corvette, which they codenamed the Seshat, for their sole use; the MVD decided to liberate Kivium, deploying one of their powerful and little seen Javert class frigates to the area. Simultaneously, the MVD diverted a small number of elements from Forth Arm's Second Heavy Fist to the Civius system, ostensibly to eliminate rouge Crusader elements in the area. They have been told to await the arrival of a command officer.

We have deployed you to the Civius System, you will now be told why.

MVD Command has diverted four Imperial Ships from the Fourth Arm, they've been told that it is in order to eliminate the rouge Crusader ships in this sector.

Approach the Naval ships and take command. Eliminate the Crusaders from this system. However, this is only a cover for our real goal.

We have gathered intelligence that suggests there is a resource on Kivia, one with the plans for a highly advanced ship, which we call the Seshat. This ULP contractor is your ultimate objective.

Well done, now that we are sure that they are taking your orders it is time to jump to the Kivium System.

Kivia is one of the planets calling for liberation that our Navy does not have the resources to deal with, we will not be so short-sighted. You and the ships of which you have taken command will jump to that system

You should expect a small League garrison around the planet, but the Hand under your control should be able to defeat them without a problem.

Scouts have reported three separate groups within the garrison between you and Kivia, though you currently may only see two. Engage and eliminate League forces so we can get to the planet.

We've deployed assets to block the ULP's transmission frequencies in the system; with the Javert-class's significant ECM, you should be able to take them by surprise.

Enemy Computer Objective: Cyclical Patrol of horizontal bands. Move to AND Engage Attackers within a moderate range. Reinforce allies under attack within Sensor Range.


Note: The player should be able to move to and destroy each grouping of ships before the next group of ships reach them. Enemy ships should only be able to see just outside of their patrol band, space on map appropriately. Therefore: Group 1 should move to engage shortly after the player moves forward. Group 2 should not begin to move until the player closes to close range with Group 1. Group 3 should not move to engage until the player destroys one of Group 2's ships (or otherwise strays within it's radius).

Princiium, this is Facilitator Serasia. I am the coordinator for this mission. As you know the Evocator has the rank to take command of your ships and any other Imperial vessels in order to accomplish the objectives of the Emperor.

A portion of the government controlled ships are now under your command. You are now to retrieve Karber. Transmitting jump coordinates.

Hello?! Listen up you dammed Antys, you got me! Get me the hell out of this ship!

QUVANEL

We'll be taking care of that. A.I.S.N.'s own intelligence branch was finally able to figure out what you were after Facilitator.

SERASIA

I think not.

QUVANEL

You think you can stop me? Don't feed me whatever line you used to keep Princiium Bederill with you. The Seshat design belongs with the navy.

SERASIA

(a beat)

The Antarean ships involved today were all under your command. The Ministry won't be taking responsibility. If this mission fails, it'll be your commission.

Then there are the matter of the ships, including one valuable Dawnstar class, which will be taken by League forces.

A compromise: we will give you the Seshat design, but Karber is ours. In return, we'll give you the exact coordinates of where we left your ships, reactivate them, and help you eliminate the League forces.

We'll also take responsibility for the actions here, instead of letting it fall on you.
