Treadway Defense Systems

A defensive line along the border of the 1st districts as well as being the old border between the original ULP states (Polaran Concordat, Mournecreek + Taurean Confederacy) and the old AE. It is comprised of 60 systems.

The Treadway Line is the defensive border along the Antarean/League Border. It is a series of linked heavily fortified worlds that form the border with old Antarean Empire. The Treadway systems have a standard base collection of stations and defense systems which allow them to better hold the line. The unified concept of these systems is known as the Treadway Defense System. Defensive systems are identified individually by the first syllable of their star system's name combined with the defensive system's abbreviation.

Command Centers

Coordinating the various automated and small-manned defensive stations that litter the various Treadway systems is a number of Command, Deployment, and Control centers whose purpose is to coordinate their various defensive objects as well as deploy new ones when needed. Above them all is the UNIT which coordinates all of the Command stations.

Treadway Defense Station

Armament - heavy defense batteries and many PD systems, torps and ecm.

Dimensions - 6km tall

The Treadway Defense Station is the last line of defense in a Treadway system, it includes one to two fighter bays, a hyper-spacial beacon which, when activated, allows all League ships within transmission range to jump to its location and a number of build in armaments. The Treadway Defense Stations (Geivald Class) are made to be able to defend themselves.

Abbreviation: [System]Def

Treadway Forward Station

Located on the Leading Edge of their system, Forward Stations are the command centers for League military forces in that system. Well armed and armored for its size, it is a smaller League station, whose only real purpose is for command, there is very little room for anything but the warroom and a few small living spaces.

Treadway Minefield Controller

Armament - Top mounted med range batteries, PD systems.

Dimensions - 1200m long

The Treadway Minefields are part of the USN's defense strategy along the ULP border. They assist in keeping ships from jumping into or past the Treadway Line. The Treadway Minefield Controllers deploy, track, and upkeep the various minefields in each system. One is assigned to each minefield. Because of losses and and high maintenance costs there now are many minefields with no station or no way to track the already deployed mines.

Treadway Buoy Deployment Center

Armament - A few med range turrets, light PD - nothing heavy.

Dimensions - 750m long

Engines - NONE

These are the Command and Deployment centers for the sensor buoys that litter their relative systems. Via these systems of buoys the stations can keep track of movements all over the systems with great detail. Manned Observation Satellites are also coordinated from these stations.

Treadway Light Platform Command Center

Armament

Engine - Low power manouvering engines.

Armaments - Bay launches wep platforms, additional defensive weps around bay. PD systems.

Dimensions - 5km high

These are the deployment, command and control centers for the large number of Light Defensive Platforms littered all around their relative systems. These command centers controls the Platforms in order to ensure that small-craft cannot drift or sneak through undetected. These stations are also used for other repair operations.

Treadway Communications Center

Armaments - None

Dimensions - Core hull is 500m tall - aerials extend some 2km out either side.

These bases are located deep within their systems and are the heart of the Central Subspace Relay system for their local area. They also control a number of small satellites on the edge of its range in order to facilitate communications, as well as all the scrambler Satellites in the system. After the first antarean war these have also been used as intraweb hubs for highend users, as a result the core ulp systems have enjoyed much better connections than most.

Treadway Missile Battery Command

These are the Deployment, Command, and Control centers for a number of disposable missile batteries scattered around their relative systems for defensive purposes.

Treadway Heavy Platform Command Center

These are the oversight centers for the Heavy Defensive Platforms littered lightly around the Norway system. This command center merely observes the Platforms in order to ensure that all their systems are working and helps coordinate between the manned and the very few unmanned heavy platforms.

United Naval authority for Treadway

UNIT is the Command center that coordinates all the other more minor command centers, along with the Command Stations, the observation stations, and the Defense Stations. Although being the highest naval authority, most stations can operate independant of higher orders. It is manned and well protected. This station is Cerberus Class - Command Variant.

Field Stations

These stations are the actual offensive and defensive stations that help make the Treadway Line so easy to defend.

Signal Satellites

The Signal Satellites are the basis of communication, scrambler and ECM technology in the Treadway systems. They are larger then the other field station types and resemble space stations more then others.

Treadway Signal Sat - Type A

This Signal Sat has dual purposes. One, it allows for increased and smoother communication between members of the ULP. Two, it broadcasts a scramble signal which prevents Jump Sensors from charting beyond it with any accuracy. This Sat is stationary in space.

Treadway Signal Sat - Type B

Located on a small, fast moving planets in the system, Signal Sat B is purely a scrambler satellite. It has been placed on one of the fastest moving planets in the system. Activated whenever enemy forces enter the system it blankets the system with ECM signals.

Treadway Signal Sat - Type C

This Signal Sat has dual purposes. One, it allows for increased and smoother communication between members of the ULP. Two, it broadcasts a scramble signal which prevents Jump Sensors from charting beyond it with any accuracy. This Sat moves in space.

Treadway Signal Sat - Type D

Signal Sat D-type is a stationary satellite located towards the forward middle of its system. Its sole purpose is to disrupt navigation sensors. While this includes normal sublight nav systems, the larger part of its signal is devoted to ensuring that any ship that attempts to chart a jump within its signal radius will end up inside a sun or a solid object when it comes out. This line of satelite has long been discontinued for its doubtfull efficiency.

Platforms

The Platforms are the small stations where weapons are mounted in order to decrease the entrance and exit points into the systems. Also there are a number of small manned observation platforms that are included in this category

Heavy Platt

Armed with Torpedoes and, for the bigger variants, sometimes a single rail cannon, the Heavy Weapons Platforms are usually stationed towards the middle of the system where they can lock on and fire at large Capital ships before they close range. These are mostly manned.

Light Platt

armament - as stated

dimensions - 270m tall

Armed with a few Gattling Rail Cannons or a large number of Vulcan Cannons the Light Weapons Platforms are scattered all around the system, sometimes pared off with an Observation Platform or a Signal Sat. Their main purpose is to fight off and destroy any small-ship that manage to sneak through the lines. A few of these are manned.

Ground Platt

Located on celestial bodies themselves, they are armed with a Signal Plasma Beam for atmosphere-less variant, or a number of special Extra-Long-Range torpedoes for other types of planets. Variants the Ground Weapon Platforms are usually combined with a sensor station and are often used to take potshots at passing Capital ships near the edge of the system. There are very few of these in service. All of these are manned.

Missile Battery Type A

The Type A missile battery carries a complement of 100 Missile Clusters, upon using up it's cluster it sends a signal to its Missile Battery Command station for refill. The Type A battery is stationary and holds only SL (Straight Line) type missiles, mid-size class. This is meant to swarm incoming enemies. None of these are manned.

Missile Battery Type B

The Type B missile battery carries a complement of 1000 Missile Clusters, upon using up it's cluster it sends a signal to its Missile Battery Command station for refill. The Type B battery is stationary and holds only TM (Tracer Missiles) type Missiles, mini-missile size class. These platforms are meant to provide a level of coverage as to make deploying small-craft impossible. None of these are manned.

Missile Battery Type C

The Type B missile battery carries a complement of 50 Missile Clusters, upon using up its cluster it sends a signal to its Missile Battery Command station for refill. The Type B battery is stationary and holds only TM (Tracer Missiles) type Missiles, Capital size class. These platforms are meant to slow down or disable single Capital ships that have broken the line. None of these are manned.

Observation Platform

The Observation Platform is a manned sensor station with a number of visual, subspace, and normal space sensors. There are a few of these scattered around the star system as an early warning system.

Buoys

All buoys are unmanned and stationary. The Buoys are deployed to fill the small holes in the defensive line. Buoys are very small, they don't scale bigger then a normal sized fighter, and sometimes smaller.

Comm Buoy Type A

The Type A Communications Buoy is meant to listen in on enemy conversations. Normally, it is only deployed on the front line, however a few are seeded throughout the center of the system, just in case something makes it through.

Comm Buoy Type B

Dimensions - 20m long

The Type B Communications Buoy is a disrupter for enemy forces and reinforces for friendly forces. Enemy forces within it's signal will find their communications disrupted and static, making coordination difficult. Friendly units within its radius will find their signals boosted.

Sensor Buoy

Dimensions - 23m tall

The Sensor Buoy is an Active sensor station. It collects information via special onboard sensors and active probes of nearby space. As such it is easily detectable.

Detection Buoy

Dimensions - 40m long

The Detection Buoy is a Passive sensor station. It collects information via a special broadcast signal that is almost undetectable. It can only detect incoming objects and their size. As such it is extremely hard to detect.

Visual Buoy

Dimensions - 23m long

The most numerous Buoy type the Visual Buoy is simply a big space camera it records visually everything that it can see and transmits the videos back to the Buoy Command Center via encoded irregularly spaced burst transmissions. As such, it is hard to detect.
