Foyeri Defensive Mainline
The Foyeri Mainline is the primary Antarean defense against League forces, running along a significant portion of the Antarean/League border. The Mainline, a cooperative effort between the Empire and the Foyeri Union (through who's space much of the line runs through) is the absolute top of the line in Antarean defensive systems. Many of the stations and systems used across the Mainline have become standard throughout Antaream space, however a number of stations, such as the Guardpost, are unique to the Mainline because they are a product of the treaty between the Union and the Empire. When all these systems are together they are called the Foyeri Defensive Mainline. This line is especially important because it guards the Foyeri Endline termini in one of the primary wormhole systems used to enter Antarean space.
Command Centers
Foyeri Guardpost - "FyGuard"
The Foyeri Guardpost stations are placed at regular intervals along the Foyeri mainline. These stations are an essential part of the compromise between the Foyeri Union and the [2nd] Antarean Space Empire. Each station is huge, built with resources from both the extremely rich Foyeri Union and the Empire, visible manifestations of Imperial power within the Mainline and the promise the Empire has made to defend the Union. The stations have been created mostly as observation and early alert outposts, with every inch bristling with sensors and ECCM emplacements. However, the size serves a purpose other then the propaganda, the large mass of the Guardposts make them beacons for extremely accurate hyperspace jumps, allowing defensive forces, once alerted, to appear on a dime, though at a distance from the station.
The reason the Foyeri required that these Guardpost stations be so large is because they use them as trading outposts and toll booths along the Mainline. These stations are almost always manned, often with at least three, many time more, trading groups residing or resting at the station. This brings its own advantages, the trading partners pay a toll at each station they pass through and, should they stay there, they must pay a rental fee. These fees are split between the Empire and the Union. In addition, this means that the Guardposts are usually patrolled by a number of guard-ships employed by independent traders, not to mention Foyeri Traffic Control, which usually supplies at least five heavy combat ships to enforce payment of the toll.
The downsides are less obvious, but severe. The Empire cannot, as it would wish, litter the Guardpost systems with buoys, drones, or mines. In an attempt to counteract this, traffic through Guardpost systems is highly regulated.
Foyeri Drone Mother - "FyMo"
The Foyeri Drone Mothers fall somewhere between a small station and a large ship. Entirely automated, these huge bulbous command centers contain bays filled with many thousands of attack drones, and the built-in capability to produce many more. The Drone Mothers are the strongest defensive force on the line, with each mother controlling interlocking walls of Expy Attack Drones, they hold the reins of the Antarean's reactive defensive strategy. The Drone Mothers are programmed to react to enemy fleet movements, releasing drones onto weak spots on the line and unleashing their brood onto enemies who enter the line.
Foyeri Vulture Platforms - "FyVult"
The Foyeri Mainline is a huge entity, one that uses up copious amounts of resources even when no enemy attacks. Neither the Union, nor the Empire, can afford to simply absorb the expense, especially when the battle actually begins. In order to counteract a measure of the cost a number of mobile stations called Vulture Platforms patrol the length of the Mainline, as well as being deployed immediately to conflict sites as soon as weapons fire is detected. These FyVult are designed for one reason, to collect all loose resources and debris along the Mainline for recycling and redistribution.
The FyVult, extremely well equipped with weaponry in their own right, are designed with a huge gaping bay, which allows the Vulture to simply drift on a single maneuvering thrust through a system, debris, stellar dust, and asteroids simply being caught up in the huge harvest bay, like a whale scooping up water. This design allows for the maximum payout with the least expenditure of the energy on the part of the FyVult. However, the Vultures will not leave even the meanest bit behind, each plane of the station is equipped with two tractor pods as well, which will yank debris forward of the station and release it to fall into the harvest bay. During peacetime Vulture Platforms will make a number of passes through each system.
During a battle the FyVult will track the course of the fight, staying towards the edge of the conflict and minimizing fire in order to de-prioritize itself as a target. It is during these actions that the Vultures are at their most impressive, activating the dozens of tractors that are anchored within their huge maws and lancing out to grab debris the moment it ceases emanating a power signal, with many a recorded incident in which a League pilot disappears along with his ship into the 'mouth of the Vulture.'
The Vulture's systems are almost entirely automated, with the entire operation being supervised by one or, at most, two men. The only time their attention is even required is during the redistribution of supplies, when Foyeri elements attach via umbilical and are shunted resources from the Vulture Platform.
As per Antarean/Foyeri Treaty stipulation 94 , any costs defrayed by the FyVult Platform systems are subtracted from the Union's required contribution.
Foyeri Nano-Comm Control - "FyNComm"
Each Nano-Comm control platform is essentially the stationary equivalent of a drone controller platform. The FyNComm (also called the Fine Communications Control Array) is the primary coordination center for the Foyeri Mainline Nano-Communications Drones (Nano-Comm Drones) within their range. These stations house serious computational power, with server stacks that heat sinks straight out into space, sticking out from the bottom of the Control Platform in an impressive twin fin-stack configuration. These servers are used to coordinate and process the information from the thousands of miniature communication drones that maintain an independent array and data backbone across the entirety of the Foyeri line. They also act as a repository for the massive dumps of information and minor sensory data fed to them via the distributive computing provided by the multitude of drones within their operational area.
Due to the storage of important, if encoded, data, each FyNComm platform is equipped with 10 - 12 medium-size torpedo launchers and a number of energy weapon turrets.
