The Taldis FAS180 Custom, now dubbed the 'Wolverine', is a select-fire submachine gun, but few remember the original designation. Its moniker stuck, after the pirate-infested Wolverine star cluster had become so laden with this particular weapon.

The FAS180, or Wolverine, is a bullpup design that utilizes a top-loaded magazine that carries up to 24 rounds. It has a 6-round burst fire mode, and a full-auto magdump mode where the trigger is electronically depressed and the weapon unloads all 24 rounds in one go. This weapon is a nightmare in corridor fights, as it is frequently used with the aforementioned magdump mode, vomiting rounds downrange in cargo ships, shredding people and parcels alike.

Although designed and originally manufactured by Taldis, the affiliation was quickly dropped after numerous reports of the weapon being the favorite tool for raids of Wolverine pirates. It was later revealed by muckraking journalists that Taldis had sold manufacturing licenses and blueprints to one of the major pirate organizations in the Wolverine cluster knowingly.

For a young company like Taldis, many predicted this scandal would be the end of the enterprise, and politically it was. But financially Taldis quickly grew, people had seen the effectiveness of Taldis weaponry and rushed to buy. Their public relations management forced the company to reinvent themselves as the everyman's arms manufacturer. Already gotten rid of any ideals, Taldis made a smart move with a new line of simple civilian small arms, even though it was no longer even making the Wolverine SMG's.

Taldis has internally considered bringing back the FAS180 Custom, since the bad reputation with the original name has all but vanished, and rebranding it to push a marketing pitch.

Many Wolverine knockoffs and originals are still floating around in the hands of illegitimate organizations, some enthusiasts even go well out of their way to procure an original FAS180 Custom, venturing into pirate-infested anarchic space to obtain them.
