The Heimdall class was suppose to be the symbol of transnational co-operation having been designed primarily by Ackerson and the innovative weapon systems by Kaller. Many of the shipyards producing the Heimdall were situated on the border between the Antarean Federation and the United League of Planets, when the war broke out most of these squadrons stayed loyal to the ULP. The issue is with the loss of the shipyards and the support of Kaller the ships couldn't be maintained. To this effect the class was subsequently placed in the hands of Duram and Jitrol that had to downgrade many systems at high costs to keep the Heimdall operating.
