This `Yearman Aerospace <Yearman_Aerospace.html>`_ heavy cruiser was initially designed as a bid for a naval dreadnought, but specifications were changed in mid-prototype and the Freya class was shelved, Yearman Aero lacking the sheer production facilities required for a substantially more colossal craft. The two prototype vessels served for some years as mobile RnD stations in core space.
Later on in the war, the Freya class would be put back into production as a heavy support cruiser, ferrying supplies, troops, armour and spares to front line units all over the galaxy.
The huge internal volume of the midsection was intended to accommodate capital class superweapons, and provides ample flexibility of configuration for a multitude of units, both space and ground based.
