Ship Destroyer USN Fenrir
The Fenrir is essentially a heavily remodeled Loki. It differs from other, lighter classes of destroyer mainly in its heavier missile armament and increased parasite compliment. Two short flanges or 'wings' addorn the port and starboard sides, both above and below the two new fighter-bays. The four flanges give the vessel its unmistakeable dual-hammerhead appearance.
The Fenrir class mounts nearly double the number of missile launchers than the smaller Loki, and benefits from a greatly expanded sensor suite.
Its ship-killing power at a distance was greatly increased with the addition of a single light-torpedo tube mounted on the ship's nose. This gives the Fenrir unprecedented versatility and long-range firepower. The increase in close-range missile launchers makes the Fenrir perfectly suited for its role in fending off pirates and commerce raiders as well as launching savage, short-range attacks against larger vessels. In addition, its expanded counter-missile armament and sensor suite allow it to easily provide effective cover for larger, more vulnerable vessels or control an entire point-defence grid singlehanded.
Like all Command vessels, Fenrirs are rarely seen in groups and are generally awarded to officers who have proven themselves to be reliable and trustworthy. To this end, very few of these vessels have ever been commisioned.
