The planet of Lobos is the fourth in the Phrixus system. The planet was one of the earliest colonies officially founded by the old Antarean Federation. During the earliest days of the Federation, as multi-star powers were beginning to coalesce in the region, the Federation Senate realized that they would soon need a centrally organized military in order to protect and consolidate their holdings. They designated Phirxus IV as the planet on which the main campus of their first training academy would be built. The planned complex was named after Admiral Deacon Keil Lobos, who had recently died during the defense of Porfoir. Shortly afterward, the planet was renamed the same: Lobos.

The biosphere of planet itself is relatively unusual even by non-terraformed standards. The atmosphere is predominantly a greenish-yellow chlorine mist; which makes it quite corrosive and inhospitable to human life. The Lobos Academy , the most prestigious Academy in Antarean space, is created out of a special mix of hardened ceramics and plastics that is custom built to resist the harsh atmosphere. The Antarean Naval Academy is spread all over the planet, connected by underground tunnels. The larger areas of the Academy have domed areas called "wildlands" where the flora and fauna are cultivated in a way more fitting to a properly terraformed world. Despite this relative normal state, there is a well-known, if frowned upon, tradition among cadets to challenge themselves by standing outside the climate controlled environs of the dome to test how long they can last unassisted in the highly toxic atmosphere of the planet.

The planet's unique look is also garnished by indigenous plant species which are distinguished by their almost completely black coloration and enormous rivers of bleach which striate the terrain.

  • Note: the local fauna's constitution being made up of a hardy, plastic-like organic material with the texture of PVC.
