The ULA's standard issue GAR 8.13x60mm FMJ round. Used by the DK-11A assault rifle and other mainstay ULA weapons. The GAR class is a caseless ammunition, meaning the two-stage quintite propellant, the primer, and the projectile are all one unit -- primarily for saving space and simplifying firing mechanisms, thereby reducing weight. The GAR uses an electrical primer to eliminate worry of a flashpoint causing misfires. The quintite propellant in the FMJ and AP variant burn blue. The round has its own oxidizers and can be fired in any environment without issue. The GAR round's production was refined to a point that it's genuinely less expensive to manufacture than counterparts, superseding most ammunition types in ULP space as a standard.


The GAR is easily the most commonly found round in both the periphery and inner worlds of United League space, much like how common the .22LR and 9mm cartridges were on Old Earth. It is sometimes said that more GAR rounds have been made than all other ammunition types combined; though, this claim is likely a common misconception. The fact remains that the GAR round has been used extensively, it is said no ULA soldier has ever gone without emptying at least one magazine in a field of operations.

Several variants of the GAR ammunition exist for different purposes

 - GAR AP Magnum: Overpressured propellant and hardened core improve overall damage and penetration properties. Requires heavier barrel. Used with TS20.
 - GAR FMJ: Milspec variant of GAR ammunition Outer shell of the round is hardened with a softer core. Less penetration than AP but flattens inside targets to increase soft-tissue damage. Commonly used by DK11A and all variants.
 - GAR T2: Civilian round with normal core and single-stage propellant, tumbles more, penetrates less, commonly used on the A420 'Boxer'
