technically the CIR is not ammunition, but rather the barrel for the GU34 gauss rifle. This barrel is needed since the GU34 uses up the magnetic coils in the barrel per shot. The barrel size and projectile have to match or it cant fire, so normally the designation for GU34 ammo is CIR- followed by the calibre. CIR is available from CIR-5mm to CIR-20mm, although the weapon can fire up to 25mm, those calibres are considered unsafe. Illegal CIR-25mm have nevertheless been popular umongst pirates and gun enthusiast.

The CIR projectile, or coil-induced round, is a massive tungsten-core fin-stabilized projectile that is 12.5x75mm designed exclusively for use with the GU34 gauss rifle. Lower-quality knockoff rounds have been made by pirates and private enthusiasts alike but are still unable to fully replicate the quality of the Falken CIR5 12.5mm round produced by Falken itself or Falken's reputable licensees. Sometimes the fins on these knockoff rounds won't deploy, or will not correctly feed into the coil and shred the internals of the weapon, and may incur severe injury or even death to the operator.

As a disclaimer, Falken states that it does not officially support unlicensed rounds or tools for use with the Falken GU34 and states that any unlicensed rounds may cause injury or worse. Unlicensed rounds also void the warranty.
