Bio Saul Thurgood
2 Bio Portraits
The first portrait shows him at attention on the blue carpeted deck of a USN battleship. He’s facing the camera with the grey, unmarked, wall of the ship behind him, holding a traditional USN salute, which originated on old Earth with the British Naval salute; He’s standing straight up, holding his left hand up to the left side of his head, all his fingers extended, palm facing out, and the back of his slightly wrinkled hand resting against his forehead. He’s tall, thin, and looking dapper in his Grand-Marshal’s uniform. The uniform is two pieces. The first is the pants, they are a dark blue with a white stripe running down either side, other then that they are undecorated. The second part is the uniform top. This is also dark blue, with a black zipper running down the front. The shoulder pads and a portion of the jacket in front of the shoulders is white, and thicker then the rest of the jacket. On the right side of the jacket, directly below the white shoulder portion, is the ULP Internal Security Logo pinned on in gold. The logo is a single artistic rendition of an eye with a pupil that extends from the top of the eye to the bottom. The eye is overlaid above a spiral galaxy. On the left side are three even lines of five medals each. The first row is entirely different kinds of pinned on squared medals, the second is a variety of medals hanging off ribbons, and the third is a layer of more decorative types of medals, including a star with a purple ribbon and a pair of crossed olive branches in a circle. The jacket has a tube neck that is the same blue as the rest of the jacket with black trim rimming the top and meeting up with the zipper in the center. The neck just comes to above his mouth, covering it, and combining with his black eyes, lined features, and pockmarked face to give him an inscrutable look.
The second portrait shows him sitting in his office. He is sitting at his desk, a heavy traditional wooden model with nothing on it but a neat stack of papers to his right and a small terminal-style DAIS model to his left. Directly behind him is a wall of TV screens, each filled with heavy white static. Centered behind him, emerging from the static is the ULP Internal Security Logo in dark black, distributed over a number of the screens so that the eye part of the logo is directly above his head. The room itself is otherwise dark, a single light is somewhere behind the photographer is the only other illumination. Thurgood is seated in a high-backed black leather chair with the top rising just above his head.
He has his uniform jacket open. Underneath the jacket there is a grey button down shirt with four visible oblong tabs instead of buttons, and closed layered vest (read – bulletproof) over a thick dark grey shirt. His hands are steepled in front of his face. With the jacket open, his mouth, a thin serious line, can be seen behind his hands. His mouth, and the rest of his features are barely visible in the dim light. Because the majority of the light is coming from the static filled TV screens behind him the entire scene is thrown into shadow. The focus of the picture is his dark black eyes which pick up the little bit of light in the room and have a sort of gleaming ferocity. They are staring directly at the camera in a way that is unnerving.
