Though having fallen out of favor in its home, the Taurian Confederacy, the Rejkhart class heavy corvette is a surprisingly competent design. Following the Taurian tradition of uncompromising firepower, if allowed to close to a respectable range, the ship is capable of dealing tremendous damage to even the heaviest of opponents. The Rejkhart possesses two primary strengths that are greatly appreciated by USN commanders. Unlike many smaller USN craft, it's designers at Blackhorn Shipyards, the Confederacy's largest and most respected developer of naval warships, built the corvette with its crew in mind. Much of the ship's internal volume is spent on crew amenities not usually present on ships of the line so small.
Despite its relative opulence, the corvette mounts incredibly stout armor, built with the redundancy usually found in a typical Taurian hull. Constructed of a standard crystallized Chothlam matrix, the plating is incredibly resistant to energy fire. This feature lends itself to the Rejkhart's somewhat onerous duty as a heavy raider, fighting at close range where energy damage is far more common and destructive.
Two light railcannon turrets provide the Rejkhart with enough punch to threaten even the stoutest armor, and its sixteen ion-array banks, dispersed in clusters dotting the ship's hull often prove to be a nasty surprise to any craft unfortunate enough to get in the heavy corvette's way. The Rejkhart class' ponderous firepower is backed by two Stimsen mark VIII heavy missile systems mounted in the ship's dorsal and ventral bay's respectively and a pair of Galaxy Y class MRT (Medium Range Torpedo) tubes. Rounding out its offensive compliment, the ship is also capable of launching and supporting a half-squadron (6 craft) of fighters and/or attendant mechanized units (3 craft).
Massing in at roughly 341 thousand tons, it is one of the largest model of corvette ever designed by any nation within the ULP. However, with its bulk comes certain limitation. Because of the incredible amount of redundancy of its internal systems, the Rejkhart class is forced sacrifice much of the speed and agility that provide the edge to most ships of its class. It is a hefty vessel, whose broad flight profile also makes it a relatively wide target. Despite its heavy armaments, it is quite vulnerable outside its forward, dorsal, and ventral firing arcs and as a result suffers greatly when engaged from the (port/starboard) flanks. As a result, despite its effectiveness as an light attacker, the Rejkhart is notoriously vulnerable to strike-scraft and suffers tremendously when engaging multiple small ships without the advantage of surprise.
