Almost all railgun technologies have been directly or indirectly been developed by Falken, the magnetic pioneers of the manufacturing world. Prior to the breakout of The Second Antarean War, Falken was primarily responsible for constructing magnetic launch systems and maglev cargo trains and other infrastructure contracts.
The United League, more specifically, the Star Kingdom of Mournecreek invested incredible amounts to make a land and infantry feasible railgun. Although succesful, investors have not been happy with the staggeringly high cost of the RID project. Falken was able to recoup its expenses in part by implementing what they had learned from the RID by producing a civilian weapon called the GU-34.
